Hello, I'm Daniel
I've been teaching English for over thirty years. I'm a native English speaker and a qualified English teacher, and for most of that time I've also worked as a language coach, which means the classes are about more than vocabulary and grammar.
What I bring to a class
Alongside teaching, I'm an organisational and behavioural psychologist with a master's degree in the subject. I've spent years inside the corporate world, including leading the delivery of leadership development programmes for large international companies, and I've built and run businesses of my own. So when you tell me about the meeting that went badly or the manager you can't read, I know the world you're describing.
I'm trained in systemic coaching, which sits underneath everything I do. We work on what's actually getting in the way. Sometimes that's the language. Often it's confidence, or knowing how direct to be, or how to say something difficult without causing offence.
How I teach
Every course is built for one person. I don't have a syllabus waiting for you. We start with what you need English for and what keeps going wrong, and I design from there, using real material from your own working life.
Classes are 45 minutes, online, once or twice a week. Short enough to fit around your job, often enough to actually improve. Between classes you'll have work to do and me to ask when you're stuck.
Why I do this
I like watching people find their confidence. Most of my students can already speak English. What they want is to stop hesitating, stop apologising for their English, and say what they actually mean.
When that clicks, it changes how people see them at work.
